How to Choose the Best Hybrid Camcorder

The camcorder market has come a long way in the past few years. Just a few years ago, MiniDV was king in this market. Then we had DVD cams, HD video cameras. But all those gadgets had their own issues, which is why top gadget makers have decided to introduce hybrid camcorders to give you the best of a couple of worlds. With these gadgets you are no longer limited to DVD, MiniDV, or Hard Drive for your storage. You get more than one option and just in case one fails on you, you have another one to fall back on.

There are many cool hybrid camcorders around but not all of them are created equal. There are many options to choose from depending on the quality of content you want to produce with your gadget. Here are the factors you need to pay attention to choose the best Hybrid camcorder:

HD quality: the video quality matters a lot when choosing one of these gadgets. If you are spending a few hundred dollars on a new cam, you may as well get one that comes with 1080 video resolution.

Size: I don't know about you but I don't like to take a large v-cam with me on the go. I rather have a more compacto one.

Weight: old cams used to be too heavy. But things have changed a lot in the past few years.

Zoom: who can forget about the optical and digital zoom when choosing one of these.

Storage options: you want to make sure what storage options fit your needs the best. You can get DVD+Flash or HD among other options.

Hybrid camcorders are great options for folks who don't want to rely on one storage option. Besides, even if your hard drive or flash drive fails on you, you always have a back up option. You can never have enough space for videos.

Canon Rebel XSi vs T1i - A Digital Shoot Out

Imagine taking the best picture of your life. While you are imagining, imagine that your picture wins a local photo contest in your city. It is selected for entry into a nationally published photography magazine, and photographers all over are emailing you to tell you what a wonderful photo you have taken. Back on earth, you realize you need that DSLR camera to take such a picture. And Canon is your final choice. (Excellent decision, by the way). Now all you need to do is decide between the TWO Rebels that are at the top of the entry level DSLR market.

First, there's the Canon Rebel XSi (aka Rebel 450D), and then there is the Canon Rebel T1i (aka Rebel 500D). Both cameras are highly rated by people who bought them. Very few buyers have been dissatisfied with their purchase. You can find that out by going to amazon.com or B&H Photo and searching for one of the cameras. You will find that there are user reviews there, as well as testimonials from camera buyers. The reason buyers are so happy with their choice of Canon DSLRs is that these cameras are masterfully manufactured and they take amazing quality pictures. The differences between the two DSLR cameras are fairly basic and easy to understand.

The difference in megapixels is not as significant as some might imagine. When you are talking about 12.2 vs 15.1 megapixels, it is like a drop in the megapixel bucket! You can produce a huge print from either camera... larger than 9 by 13 (which is the largest image that can be printed on most home printers). By the way, the T1i has the 15.1 megapixel image sensor, and the XSi has the 12.2 megapixel sensor. THE major difference is that the T1i can take video while the XSi does not have video capability. And the T1i does not just take video, it takes HS quality video. While it is not as good as a dedicated camcorder, the quality is very good indeed.

Another major difference is Creative Auto. This feature is available in the T1i but not the XSi. Creative Auto is similar to features on some of the better point and shoot cameras. It allows the photographer to take more creative shots using camera settings rather than relying on the individual's own photographic knowledge. Canon's claim is that the beginning photographer can take better shots while learning to use their DSLR. The last difference in this DSLR shoot out is price. In this category, the Rebel XSi is the clear winner, coming in at about $150 below the Rebel T1i.

Grupo Experimental Nueva Yorkino in Berlin (Winner of a NY Emmy)

Return of a Legend Grupo Folklórico Y Experimental Nuevayorquino is one of the best-kept secrets in New York's musical history. In the mid-1970s several of the best Latin Jazz musicians in the city got together in the basement of brothers Andy and Jerry González (bass and percussion/trumpet). They included percussionist Milton Cardona, rumba singer Virgilio Martí and salsa stars such as Chocolate Armenteros (trumpet) and Reinaldo Jorge (trombone). Out of the casual jam sessions evolved an alternative sound to the commercial salsa of the day -- music charged with an experimental energy and with roots deep in the Afro-Cuban and Afro-American traditions. Although Grupo only ever made two records, "Concepts in Unity" and "Lo dice todo", they numbered among the most influential bands of the 1970s. Their upcoming reunion after thirty years is a sensation -- and not only for fans of Latin music. Digital Photography - Photographing Wild Mushrooms Toadstools and Fungi With a DSLR Digital Camera

Buying a nice DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera is one thing, but putting it to good use is another. Pretty much everything that has its picture taken by one of these great technological breakthroughs seems to come out looking almost professional. That is with a lot of help from the auto settings, but what about getting down and dirty with some earthly nature and using some of those even better manual features.

A very popular and rewarding subject that seems offer photography a variety of different locations and settings and is ideal for this kind of learning process are wild mushrooms etc...

Not only are mushrooms extremely versatile but there are over 38,000 different varieties worldwide with over 70 percent being inedible, in fact it is highly recommended that the only mushrooms that anyone should eat are those that are bought from the grocery store as these are grown in monitored conditions.

Personally I find mushrooms and toadstools extremely photogenic and enjoy the rewards and many different images that can be produced by taking my time to photograph them. When photographing anything specific it is always a good idea to put some thought into what can be used to make the picture turn out better as well as equipment to make it more comfortable for you to do so.

The majority of fungi, toadstalls etc tend to reside in forested areas, woodlands and along the edge of where these meet a grassland or field. One of the best times of year to find them in great abundance tends to be around autumn.

Equipment that might come in useful for great clarity is a small bean bag to stand the camera on for stability or a mini tripod, but as you really want a low to the ground shot or at least side on view with most mushrooms bean bags tend to lend themselves better to these situations. Again for great clarity, use a remote control (electronic shutter release) so there is no camera movement when taking the shot. It has been proved that by reducing camera motion to zero when taking a picture the image can be as much as twenty percent better so certainly worth a little effort.

Also when photographing on the forest and woodland floor try where possible to use reflectors (even sheets of white or grey paper work to an extent) to harness and direct the natural light onto your subject as a flash unless external can sometimes saturate the images better qualities, mirrors work equally as well, but try not to cast direct sunlight onto the subject and be careful how mirrors are transported.

Plastic sheeting or a mat is often a good idea as this will protect your clothing when kneeling or laying on wet or damp ground while you are setting up the camera. Ideally you want close ups rather than distance shots.

By using these methods you will certainly produce some exceptionally rewarding and inspiring images. You could also adopt and adapt this information for your general photography activities providing you with a more enjoyable and rewarding experience from all your efforts.

Why I Chose Amazon to Find the Best Deal For My Lens Converter

When I first bought my Canon S5, I was in love with it and for a while it kept me busy as I was trying to discover what it can do. However after about two months, as I came to learn the ins & outs of it, I noticed that it was starting to slow down my progress rate and I quickly felt the need of some extra functionalities in order to take the pictures I wanted to. I felt both the need of a more powerful zoom and for an ability to capture wider angles.

So, by the advise of a friend of mine, I decided to shop around for a converter lens which could help me improve the functionality & performance of my camera. I knew that I wanted to buy it online so I started browsing for the best offers. After a while, I got a good idea about which lens converter I wanted to buy and after much looking around I finally found the best deal for my lens converter on Amazon.com.

For many people it may be obvious that Amazon has the lowest prices, but I wasn't really sure about it and I searched for better deals elsewhere. It took me a while to realize (after browsing thorough dozens of online stores) that indeed Amazon has the best deals around and on top of that, many converter lenses that I was interested in were on sale with hefty price discounts of up to 30 or 40 percent.

The price alone was reason enough to purchase my Canon WC-DC58A wide angle converter lens from Amazon, but what made me even more sure about my decision were the other extra factors like Amazon's 30-day money back guarantee, or the reviews from previous customers who were really helpful for me to decide which lens converter is best suited for my camera.

All in all, this experience made me convinced that in future if I want to buy something online at the best deal, then Amazon will always be the place I'll make my purchase from.

What is the Best Digital Camera Brand For 2009?

Picking the best camera brand is very hard, and is something that varies greatly. Some may say Canon, while others may say Kodak. It all depends on what the camera is being used for.

Technically, there is no best camera brand, and it really just comes down to individual preference. Nonetheless, there are quite a few brands that really do dominate in many ways. These brands include Olympus, Leica, Panasonic, Minolta, Fuji, Pentax, and Sony. As you can see, it is hard to pick just one brand, as there are many brands that are right up there as "the best camera brand".

As for quality, this may be a bit easier to rank. At the top would be Leica, followed by Panasonic, Minolta, Olympus, Yashica, Practika, Pentacon, Fuji, and Zeiss. There are several other brands, and just because they are not on this list does not mean they are bad brands. In fact, in this time there is really no such thing as "bad camera brand", but there are just certain brands that really shine.

Overall, many would say that the Leica could be the best if it was smaller. Many people do not like it because it is not one you can fit in your pocket. Though, it is said to be a great film and digital camera nonetheless. Olympus is probably one of the best digital SLR, and if you are willing top pay big bucks for lenses, then this is your best bet.

One thing that should be considered closely is what category camera you want as well. Some brands do not have good SLR cameras, while others may not have good ultra compact cameras. There are five categories, and before picking a specific brand you should definitely know which of these you will likely want. The categories include ultra compact (very small), compact (small), creative compact (a bit bigger than the compact cameras), SLR-like (larger), and the SLR (the largest). Some brands will not have good SLR cameras, so if you want a good SLR camera, some brands may not be an option for you. Generally, Sony caries ultra compact cameras, while Olympus is better known for SLR cameras. Picking a brand is not always something that someone can help you with. Often times people pick a camera on what they find is appealing. Try out some different cameras; see how you like their look, and their interface. It really comes down to individual preference over anything.

Charice The Journey Begins Part 03

I was seated on row 3 for this Charice concert at SMX MOA on June 27, 2009. The first 2 parts (of 19 parts that I took of the entire concert) are quite blurry but still gives an idea how the event started. Parts 3 to 19 are clear but you have to pardon the shaky camera and that's the best I can do without actually missing the show myself.

Digital Photography - Photographing the Moon With a DSLR Digital Camera

DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) Cameras are a super advancement on cameras of old or not even too long ago. The photography World has moved on and in a very big way too. It all started with the digital compact and has moved on to bigger and much better things, even our mobile phone cameras these days tend to be able to produce some amazing images. But specialist subjects still require a certain amount of specialist knowledge and equipment if we are determined to create an impressive picture...

Take the moon for instance, ordinarily you would think it fairly straight forward to photograph, and in a way it pretty much is, but for a planet that is a quarter of a million miles away and three and a half thousand kilometres in diameter giving it some respect and wanting to get some good images is the only way to go.

Let us say that you have or are thinking of getting a DSLR camera of some description, with that camera you should get a standard lens, which unfortunately will not provide impressive results when photographing the moon or any other part of the Solar System, so an upgraded lens is a must for the quality images.

A 28-200mm will give you good close range and quite a good mid-range, this type of lens is ideal for everyday use as well as some distance shots that are not mega miles away. Ideally you would want a 70-300mm or even bigger where possible, but with a lens like this it is only really ideally suited to the longer distance shots and not very good with anything very close up.

One way of getting a benefit out of the standard lens that comes with the camera is to use a 2x converter this does exactly what it says on the tin. So for instance if the standard camera lens was a 18-70mm it will increase the distance pictures to 140mm and is also pretty good for close ups too, even insects in some cases.

The converters are a pretty good option if budget is an issue as lenses can in some cases work out quite expensive, but certainly a must at some point. One of the downsides with a converter is that you will have to lose the auto-focus facility on your camera and focus manually.

Stability is a must when it comes to photographing objects that are in the distance or quite far away, for this a tripod is essential although in some cases you may be able to get away with using a mono-pod, but using a tripod and taking the pictures on timer or even using a remote control will yield excellent results.

Finally, if it is a bright moon you will probably be better off using a low ISO, something like 100ISO should do up to 400ISO, but for best results take a few on each ISO setting and check your results in the cameras LCD screen on rear, you will soon tell if it is too bright.

The Best SLR Digital Camera This Year

I'm beginning to believe, that the best SLR digital camera for sale this year, is actually one of the models released last year or earlier. The Canon Rebel Xsi continues to be popular, in spite of the release of the new Canon T1i. As well, some older Nikon models, the D90, and the D60 continue to out perform many of the newer releases dollar for dollar.

Single lens reflex (digital SLR) cameras provide many advantages over traditional point and shoot cameras, one of the best is the power to use unique lenses. Lots of professional and starting photographers relish the advantages of using distinct lenses when taking pictures. If your utilizing a non-single lens reflex camera, the angle of the viewfinder can't be exactly the same as what is being submitted to the image capturing lens. The focal length of your lens can mess up your photographs, when what the photographer sees, and what the camera sees are two slightly distinct things. The digital single lens reflex camera resolves this matter simply because you and the camera share the same panorama through the single lens.

For years digital single lens reflex cameras didn't permit photographers to compose their images with the LCD display. You had to use the viewfinder. This has been a barrier for umpteen amateur digital single lens reflex users until recently. The first solution in Live View, is to engage an additional assistant sensor to handle the image coming from the prism mirror. The whole process is somewhat slowed down a bit, as that supplemental sensor image is exposed to the photographer via the liquid crystal display. While live view has been a hot item, it often meant discontinuing autofocus which seemed a shame. The the newer Canon Rebel has made some progression towards resolving this.

Historically speaking, the Best SLR Digital Camera is represented by this genre. For all intents and purposes, these are the cameras we will be talking over here. If you want to trade out lenses on these single lens reflex cameras, your free to do so. Whatever the photographic environment involves can be fixed with a DSLR camera that allows for a mixture of lenses.

You can get yourself a single lens reflex camera that creates picturesque images, but doesn't require changing lenses. These category of cameras are largely going by the wayside and aren't really store-bought much anymore.

As with researching any digital product, (including the best SLR digital camera)it makes sense to shop on the web for pricing discounts, and product selection. The more reputable websites offer customer service and support in excess of the run of the mill camera stores.

The Best Wildlife Camera To Take On Safari

Good wildlife camera equipment on safari can make the difference between pictures you will be proud to show your friends and family when you get back and ones where it's difficult to figure out exactly what you were photographing because it's only a fuzzy black dot surrounded by green vegetation.

I take wildlife photographs for a living and I have had to quickly figure out what the best cameras and lenses are to get the job done effectively.

Digital or Film - Which is better for a safari?

Wild animals are very unpredictable. That's one aspect of safari photography that makes it so exciting because you never know what you are going to get but this also means that the number of pictures you need to take to get a keeper increases.

And if you use film that can become very expensive whereas with a digital wildlife camera you can take as many as you want and then just delete the ones where the lion has ducked behind a bush, the cheetah has blurred because the autofocus locked onto a twig in front of it and the exposure of the hippo was way off because of the reflected sunlight in the water.

You can also make consistent use of bracketing to get the perfect exposures without worrying about cost or running out of film which can be a problem in certain remote areas of Africa where safaris take place.

So more is better in this case but what about quality? The fact is that digital quality is fast catching up to film unless you fall into the professional category and are going to be selling your safari pictures or entering them into competitions. In that case it might be better to stick to film because the trained eye will be able to spot the difference but in most other cases digital quality is more than adequate.

Digital also gives you valuable feedback while you are still on safari so that you can try and improve on that elephant picture with the ear cut off the next day. You also have a lot more control over the final product because you can use software like Photoshop to enhance and fine tune your pictures.

Digital SLR or Compact Wildlife Camera

A safari is the dream trip of a lifetime and it's a great opportunity to get some fantastic wildlife pictures but it's not necessary to buy the latest and greatest digital SLR and lenses to get them unless you are planning to take nature pictures for a living or are a serious photography enthusiast and are going to make regular use of the camera and lenses after the safari anyway.

The cost of a digital SLR wildlife camera is high compared to a compact but that is only half the story. The lenses that you need to purchase for decent wildlife photography often cost more than the camera itself making it a very expensive business indeed.

And a bulky camera body and multiple interchangeable lenses do add to the weight of your luggage and the inconvenience of carrying everything around with you.

Digital compact cameras on the other hand are not extremely expensive and the results that you can obtain from them are almost on a par with a digital SLR camera and you don't have to worry about any additional lenses if the compact you buy has a decent zoom covering the range from 80mm to about 300mm. There are a few of them on the market that do have lenses like this and the range of the zooms increase every year.

And compact cameras live up to their name by being relatively small and light and one lens means no additional weight or carrying and no time wasted changing to another lens to suit the situation.

The Best SLR Digital Wildlife Camera for Nature Photography

If you have decided to go with a digital SLR then by all accounts the best one to purchase for wildlife photography at the moment is the Canon EOS 20D due to the blinding speed of its shutter release (near instantaneous) and its continuous shooting speed of 5 frames per second to a maximum burst depth of twenty three frames. It also powers up in next to no time at all.

This wildlife camera is as fast as you will ever need to freeze wildlife action and get the picture in the can before the animal moves off into the undergrowth.

There are other SLR cameras that are nearly as good like the Nikon D70 and the Pentax ist D so take a look at them too before making a decision.

The Best Compact Digital Wildlife Camera for Nature Photography

Canon comes up trumps again in the compact camera category with the Canon Powershot S2 IS. The factor that makes this camera ideal for safari wildlife photography is its huge 12X optical zoom lens (36 - 432mm equivalent) with a built in image stabiliser which cuts down on blur when using such a massive zoom lens.

A 5 megapixal sensor is more than enough to produce stunning safari images and as long as you can live with a slight shutter release lag and power up delay this compact wildlife camera is perfect for a safari trip.
