How To Use A Digital SLR Camera

Having a digital SLR can give you much more flexibility and freedom when shooting photography. It gives you full control over the exposure, the focus, the light let in, and lots of other settings as well. This article will show you how to use a digital SLR camera.

There are many different modes you can use with an SLR.

Fully Automatic Mode

This mode makes the camera fully automatic. It adjusts all the settings in order to expose the image and focus it right. This is fine when you are taking simple shots, however, when you have complex shots or unique angles and want depth or something of the sort this is a bad choice to run in.

Aperture Priority Mode

This mode gives you control over the aperture and automatically sets the shutter. This is great since you only have to worry about the aperture and the shutter is done for you. Use of this mode is very common when trying to get shallow or expansive depth of field.

Shutter Priority Setting

The shutter priority mode lets you control the shutters speed and the aperture is automatically set for you. Photographers use this mode when taking pictures of motion and wanting to freeze it, blur it, or something of the sort.

Manual Mode

The manual setting gives you control over the shutter and aperture. You have to set both right and appropriately for each other. If you set one wrong it can make the shot underexposed. They both work very close together and you need to really know how they effect each other.

Each mode has its benefits and weaknesses. Pick the mode that fits best with the type of shot you're taking.

The great thing about an SLR is that you can change the lenses. This gives your camera an upgradable feature and you can use wide angle lenses, telephotos, and the like.
